The Jury

Five voices. One collective decision.

A five-member jury — bringing together leadership, filmmaking, production, film scholarship, and criticism — evaluates the Official Selection and determines the festival awards. Jury members are announced ahead of each festival season.

An award-winning photographer and director whose short film Limbo has screened at some 70 festivals worldwide.

Gökçe began his career in photography in 1993 as an assistant and holds a master’s degree in photography. His commercial work has won numerous awards at leading international competitions, including Epica, Golden Drum, Cannes Lions, New York Festivals and the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year.

His photographs have appeared in many cookbooks. For Gamze Bursa’s Net: 425 gr, he received the award for Best Cookbook Photography at the 2008 Gourmand Awards in Paris.

His fine-art photography has been exhibited in New York, London and Paris. His first solo exhibition, Unfamiliar, opened in Manhattan in 2017.

In 2018, five photographs from his Egg Yolk series were selected for Photoville’s The FENCE, a large-scale traveling outdoor exhibition that reaches more than six million visitors a year in North American cities including Brooklyn, Boston, Atlanta, Santa Fe, Durham, Denver and Calgary. That same year, a photograph from the series won the Award of Photographic Excellence in food photography at the Production Paradise Spotlight Awards.

In 2019, his Acupuncture series was shown at Photoville NYC in the “Flavor Feast” container, where he also led a tabletop photography workshop.

Directing commercials since 2012, Gökçe made his first short film, Limbo, in 2017 as part of a long-term project spanning photography and cinema. The film has been selected, screened and awarded at some 70 festivals worldwide, including in the United States, Italy, Spain, France, China and the United Kingdom.
