The Festival Season

Where Your City Fits

TLFF unfolds as one four-month season within the 2026–27 Inaugural Edition, opening with the New York Opening Program and closing with the Washington, DC Closing Program. Your local program runs on its own date within the season, using the official TLFF film slate.

21 open weeks sit between the two anchor programs — run your city's program on a single weekend or across a full week within any of them.

Four Conditions to Host a Local Festival

A component association is considered a member in good standing when it: holds current, active ATAA membership with dues paid in full for the current membership year; and has no unresolved compliance issues or disciplinary actions pending with ATAA.
A Bronze-level Supporting Sponsor contributes a minimum dollar amount (or approved in-kind support of equivalent value), is recognized as a Bronze Sponsor on the local festival's promotional materials and program, and is listed on the TLFF website under the hosting association's local edition. Full tier details (Bronze–Platinum) are in the TLFF Sponsorship Prospectus at www.tlffataa.org.
The authorized representative signs ATAA's Film Security Agreement, committing to: prevent unauthorized recording, filming, or photography of screened films; restrict film file access to authorized personnel only; return or securely delete digital film files after the screening per ATAA's instructions; and report any suspected security breach immediately. The full agreement is provided once a local festival date is confirmed.
An eligible venue must provide: a minimum-lumen digital projector or equivalent large-screen display; a screen visible from all seating; a dedicated sound system with clear coverage; adequate seating including accessible options; the ability to fully dim or darken the room; and an on-site or on-call AV technician during the screening.
